Are body weight exercises for you? Whether you are a man or woman, body weight exercises can be a crucial part of your general exercise programme, and here are the reasons why.

* Easy to do. * Do not require fancy and / or costly hardware. * No gym membership required. * You can do them anywhere at home, when you're on holiday or traveling for business. * Almost infinite adaptations and kinds of exercise movements to test any fitness level and / or strength. * Because you are using your body weight and no a machine or free weights, body weight exercises are a lot safer.

Now body weight exercises are just a second name for any movement that pits one part / muscle of your body against another. For instance a standard army pushup is a body weight exercise. Pushups pit your biceps, triceps and upper body against your full body weight. You can almost think of a pushup as a the wrong way up bench press, but without the need for a spotter. Another body weight exercise would be leg squats. Pull-ups are also a body weight exercise. In fact if you only did these 3 exercises : pushups, squats and pull-ups you would work out every major muscle collection and gain strength, muscle, flexibility and endurance.

Most of us are acquainted with these exercises either from gymnasium class or playing on a sports team or army boot camp. These exercises have been employed for millenia to train and condition athletes and warriors. Each one of these three exercises has many differentiations and by enlarging the reps and The speed in which you do these exercises you can actually burn calories and increase your endurance.

Many of the new workout programs are being promoted today, you know the ones heavily publicized on the T. V. . Using videos, a fitness mat, resistance bands and calisthetics you can see impressive ends up in thirty, sixty or 90 days. Well the reality is it works! The other secret is you don't have to expend a lot of money on these programs when the standard exercises are familiar to virtually everyone.

Now that's not to take anything away from these programs. The ones I've seen offer solid methodologies and information. These programs are very good for someone who needs assistance and motivation, but they're not critical to achieve results and not having them isn't an excuse for not beginning a workout program.

For me body weight exercises mixed with resistance bands are the right way to go. Even at my advanced age of sixty-six I've seen an increase in muscle mass, stamina, pliability, posture and a general feel of strength and wellbeing. So mix some body weight exercises into your ordinary exercise program.

Should you be looking to start an exercise program give these exercises a try. Body weight exercises are excellent for women and men and as you can do them at home with no equipment you are much more likely to adhere to you exercise plan and reach your fitness goals.
